Months after Mica Miller's death, the FBI raids the pastor's husband's home

The FBI searched the home of John-Paul Miller, the South Carolina pastor whose wife Mica died by suicide in April.

An FBI spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment from PEOPLE, but WBTW, WPDE and The Sun News All reported that agents were seen outside John-Paul Miller's home in Horry County, SC

Both WPDE and WBTW reported that an FBI spokesman said the agency was conducting “court-authorized law enforcement operations” at the home.

Miller's attorney, Russell Long, confirmed in a statement to PEOPLE that the FBI searched the home.

“They executed a search warrant at his home this morning, as expected,” Long said. “Actually nothing new. Hopefully this is the end.”

According to local authorities, Mica Miller, 30, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a state park in Robeson County, North Carolina.

Mica and John-Paul, the pastor of Solid Rock at Market Common in Myrtle Beach, were estranged at the time of her death. A little more than a week before her death, Mica filed for separate child support and alimony against John-Paul, which amounts to a legal separation, the Horry County clerk told PEOPLE.

Mica's relatives have speculated that foul play may have been involved in her death, but local authorities have stubbornly denied it, saying the evidence of suicide was “clear and convincing.”

The search of John-Paul's Horry County home comes months after the Robeson County Sheriff's Office told PEOPLE in May that the FBI was conducting a “parallel investigation” unrelated to Mica's death.

“There is no evidence linking him to her death,” Damien McLean of the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office told PEOPLE in May. “[The FBI is] Investigations independent of her death. Her death has been decided [a] Suicide.”

The FBI has not said what type of investigation it is.
