Man arrested for drug possession after traffic stop

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A man was arrested after officers found more than 30 grams of crystal meth in his car.

Wilmington police stopped Walter McPherson III, 42, of Wilmington, in the area of ​​North Kerr Avenue and Birchwood Drive on Thursday evening for a marker light and seat belt violation.

Police found more than 30 grams of crystal methamphetamine, more than a gram of crack cocaine, dosage units of Xanax and fentanyl.

McPherson III was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, PWIMSD cocaine, criminal possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, keeping a controlled substance in vehicle/dwelling, possession of synthetic cannabinoid and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McPherson III is being held without bail at the NHSO Detention Center.
