Motorcyclist killed in South Berkeley crash

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Adeline Street in South Berkeley early Friday morning, police said.

Officer Byron White wrote in an email that the driver was traveling south on the 2900 block of Adeline Street, between Russell Street and Ashby Avenue, shortly before 12:30 p.m. when he struck the curb and fell off his Vespa motorcycle fell.

The driver, identified as a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene, White said.

The crash was first reported by the Berkeley Scanner.

According to police, no other vehicles were involved in the collision; the man was alone on the motorcycle. Police continue to investigate the crash, White said.
