Stephanie Ruhle asked Rutgers University students what questions they have for both candidates in the upcoming election. One student says her question to Harris would be about the timeline for passage of the Equality Act, while the question to Trump is, “Do you see me as a human being?” #kamalaharris #donaldtrump

Her exchange with a Rutgers University student who identifies as non-binary has gone viral on TikTok with nearly 15 million views.

“If you were to ask Vice President Harris one question, what would it be?” she asked.

The student replied: “I think I would ask her, 'How quickly do you think we can pass the Equality Act?'”

Then Ruhle asked the same student, “How about Donald Trump?” The student replied, “I would ask him, 'Do you see me as a human being?'”

“Oh.” Rühle replied. There was silence as she appeared to fight back tears before whispering to the student, “I'm sorry.”

The comments on the post were incredible support for the student. This person said: “No one deserves to feel like this, no matter who it is, you are so much more than just a human.”

This person affirmed that the student is “beautiful, worthy, needed, someone’s child, friend, co-worker, leader, and you are loved!!”

Many people pointed out the stark contrast between the student's questions to the two candidates. One person said: “The fact that these questions are so far apart tells you exactly who you are voting for.”

Finally, this person identified with the facilitator's emotional response to the student's response. “It shows how many of us feel like we’ve been punched in the gut and can’t do anything about it other than apologize for it happening.”

What do you think about the student's reaction? Let us know in the comments.
