A cyclist died in a fatal accident on Gandy Boulevard: FHP

A Halloween evening accident on Gandy Boulevard during the evening rush hour killed a bicyclist and caused a traffic jam.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 57-year-old bicyclist from St. Petersburg was traveling north on Gandy Boulevard just before 5:15 p.m. Thursday when he crossed into the path of a Toyota Corolla that was eastbound on Gandy Boulevard direction was on the way. and was hit by the vehicle.

According to police, the St. Pete man was thrown from his bike upon impact and then struck by a GMC Acadia driven by a 46-year-old St. Petersburg woman who was also traveling east on Gandy Boulevard.

The cyclist died at the scene of the accident. None of the drivers were injured in the accident.
