State is investigating Colorado Springs involving the nursing facility at the center of the viral video

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) — A local video is surfacing online showing what some are calling a case of animal abuse.

The video, taken at Annie's Pet Salon, continues to make the rounds on social media.

KRDO13 Investigated is investigating the incident at a local pet salon in Colorado Springs, which now also involves state authorities.

KRDO13 Investigated confirmed that the groomer who grooms the dog in the video no longer works at the salon.

The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) is investigating the incident, which was captured on cell phone video, and the Colorado Department of Agriculture, which oversees animal groomers and salons in the state, is also investigating the business. However, it is unclear why exactly.

Earlier this afternoon, KRDO13 Investigated saw a Humane Society animal control vehicle parked in the lot where the animal handlers are located.

HSPPR says they are speaking with witnesses and are still trying to make contact with the groomer in this video.

The company told us today that the groomer no longer works for them and that they are handling the situation privately and declined further comment.

Meanwhile, the owner of the pet at the center of the incident explained himself KRDO13 Investigatedwhat she felt when she saw this video shared by a staff member.

“Angry, just disappointed and just had to let her know what was going on and just pretty angry,” dog owner Amanda Herrera said. “She just knows that I go in there a lot and she got my contact and I'm just so grateful that she caught it on camera and we have proof.”

KRDO13 Investigated went to an address possibly associated with the dog groomer to ask his side of what was happening, but no one answered the door.
