People charged in connection with the murder of Jorge Llamas

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah – On Wednesday, Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill charged people connected to the alleged murder of Jorge Llamas.

Llamas' girlfriend at the time of his death, Ariana Aguilar, is charged with murder, aggravated burglary, obstruction of justice and retaliation against a witness.

Aguliar's daughter Natalie Estella Aguilar and Alejandro Mendoza are charged with murder, aggravated burglary and obstruction of justice.

Four other unidentified underage men were also involved. A juvenile court is considering her charges.

The first incident

Taylorsville police found Llamas unresponsive in a bedroom on Oct. 13 with his girlfriend Ariana Aguilar on top of him, according to a news release from the district attorney's office.

Medical personnel declared that Llamas died at the scene. They then heard noise in the living room and found Aguilar pinning a woman to the floor and beating her. Police then took Aguilar into custody.

Witness report

The woman who hit her told police that Aguilar and Lamas had argued earlier that evening.

Allegedly, llamas had locked Aguilar outside. She returned to the home with her daughter Natalie and five men, including Alejandro Mendoza, four of whom were children. The woman who hit Aguilar said two of the men went into Llama's room, then she heard a gunshot. Then she saw Natalie and the men running out of the house.

Interview with the daughter

Natalie later told police that her mother called her after her fight with llamas. She said they had to “go at him” because he “touched” her, the release said.

She says she drove to the house with Mendoza.

According to police, surveillance footage near Llamas' home shows the five men running toward the house, breaking a window, opening a window and entering the house. Natalie told police that one of them had a visible weapon.

She says Ariana reportedly led them to Llama's room where he was sleeping and one of them shot him.

“This tragic loss of life was avoidable. We would like to express our heartfelt support to the family as they mourn the loss of their loved one,” said Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill. “We thank the Taylorsville Police Department for their thorough investigation that helped lead to these charges being filed. All persons accused of wrongdoing are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.”
