Class 4A football program eliminated from playoffs due to AHSAA transfer violation

Fultondale lost three games and was placed on probation for violating the AHSAA transfer rule.

The Wildcats will miss the Class 4A playoffs. The AHSAA announced the news Wednesday evening.

Fultondale lost region wins to Hamilton, Fayette County and Cordova, dropping its overall record to 3-6 and its Region 5 record to 2-5.

A press release from the AHSAA stated that the Wildcats played against ineligible players who were paid compensation for the contests in which they entered as ineligible.

The Fultondale losers send Fayette County into the playoffs along with Good Hope, Dora and Hamilton from Region 5. The 2024 playoffs begin next week.

In the last week, the AHSAA announced violations against Coosa Christian and Pike Liberal Arts.
