The father of a Hollywood star who died in a tragic accident made a heartbreaking confession in front of a film about his son's life – film

The parents of a Hollywood actor who tragically died at a young age have spoken out about their decision to make a documentary about his life.

Anton Yelchin died at the age of 27 after a freak car accident in 2016.

The actor failed to show up for a rehearsal on June 18, 2016, and friends found his body wedged between his Jeep and a brick pillar at his home in the early hours of the following morning.

Yelchin had just gotten out of his car to check if there was a post at the gate to his house when the car apparently rolled down the steep driveway, pinning him to the post.

The coroner attributed his cause of death to “blunt traumatic asphyxia” and said there were “no obvious suspicious circumstances.”

2019 the documentary All the best, Antosha The film received incredibly positive reviews and was first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival by Anton's parents Viktor and Irina Yelchin.

Ahead of the documentary's release, Anton's father, Viktor, told IndieWire what made her agree to produce the documentary All the best, Antosha.

He said: “The suggestion was made by Jon Voight when it was a few months ago.”

“We talked to him, I would say he's a friend of our family, and we just said, 'We don't see any reason to live anymore because our life is over'.”

“And he said, 'No, no, no, no, no, you have to do a lot of things for Anton.' One of the things is to make a documentary about him.”

Voight appeared alongside Yelchin in the 2015 short film Judgment of conscienceand the actor's parents contacted Drake Doremus, the director of the 2011 film How crazy in which Anton played the main role.

Doremus felt he was too close to Anton to direct the documentary and suggested Garret Price to direct the project, which received strong reviews from critics.

Irina said: “Drake brought Garret into the house and we talked and then I saw, I don't know how, I just felt like this was the right person to direct the film.”

“He reminded me of Anton because he is very kind and humble, he was so shy to talk about it.”

Nicolas Cage served as narrator on the documentary, while the film revealed Yelchin's struggles with cystic fibrosis, which he had kept from the public.

Throughout his career, there have also been many interviews with Yelchin's co-stars, including himself Star Trek Included are Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg and John Cho, as well as interviews with Willem Dafoe, Jodie Foster, Jennifer Lawrence and many others.
