According to the church, the pastor's wife was arrested in connection with her husband's death after he was killed in Africa

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. (KVLY/Gray News) – A Minnesota church is in disbelief after the former pastor's wife was arrested in connection with his “violent” death in Africa.

On Oct. 25, Beau Shroyer, 44, was killed while on a mission trip to Angola with his wife and their five children, the Lakes Area Vineyard Church said.

Shroyer was a former pastor of the church but moved to Angola with his family three years ago to become a missionary with SIM USA.

The church announced that Jackie Shroyer was arrested but gave no further details.

A State Department official confirmed the death of a U.S. citizen and said they were aware of reports of a U.S. citizen detained in Angola.

However, they did not share any further information.
