ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich – A 55-year-old Macomb County man is facing charges after he reportedly threatened volunteers at a voting tent.

According to authorities, on Oct. 12, Jason Lynch Lafond went to a Kamala Harris campaign tent on Jefferson Avenue to look for campaign materials for Donald Trump. He then allegedly insulted the volunteers – including homophobic ones – and said that Trump would “exterminate” people like them if he won.

He then reportedly got into his vehicle and accelerated toward the volunteers, who had to avoid the speeding vehicle.

St. Clair Shores police identified Lafond and took him into custody. He was charged Thursday, Oct. 31, with three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and three counts of ethnic intimidation.

His bail was set at $50,000. Lafond is expected to return to court on November 8 for probable cause.
