Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter can etch the Colorado Buffaloes' name into Heisman history

Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are Colorado's undisputed Heisman favorites, but can they both be invited to the 2024 Heisman ceremony in New York – and make history for the Buffs?

Rarely have two players from the same team been selected as finalists and invited to the Heisman ceremony together. There have been eight times in 42 years that two teammates have been invited, and that hasn't happened since 2004; when two pairs of teammates were invited.

Colorado has never had two finalists in the Heisman ceremony. If Hunter and Shedeur pull it off, it will be historic for Colorado in more ways than one.

“In seven of those cases, those teammates came from an undefeated team ranked No. 1 (five times) or No. 2 (twice) in the country.” Brian Howell of the Denver Post explained further.

Colorado is already 6-2. Even if they manage to win every remaining game on their schedule, they would still finish at 10-2, making it a truly historic achievement if Hunter and Sanders win.

Hunter is currently the clear top Heisman favorite at +220 odds per Fox Sports. So far, Sanders hasn't been in the Heisman conversation much, but his name is starting to gain traction as he has a top-7 odds, with +4000 odds, to reach the Heisman finale.

Deion Sanders expressed his displeasure Because his son didn't get enough attention for the Heisman with his angry “Because he's my son” speech. Shedeur could be overlooked because Hunter hogs all the light or Colorado doesn't win enough. With Colorado now having a good winning record, their QB is on the top 10 Heisman list.

But none of that matters to the Buffs' QB because he just wants his teammate to win.

“I just want Travis to win. Travis, he is hands down the best player in college football. And I'm happy that he wins,” Shedeur said candidly in his post-game speech.

The Heisman is coming to Colorado relatively often this season, but whether the story will stick is the real question here.
