Rome man jailed for robbing woman after almost killing her

Broderick Desmond Ellis, 36, of Rome, was arrested this week after reports he strangled a 30-year-old woman nearly to death and then robbed her.

Police said this came after Ellis slammed the woman's head against a wall and then choked her until she lost consciousness.

Ellis is then accused of stealing a Smith & Wesson 7mm pistol from the victim.

The incident occurred at a home on Reservoir Street.

Ellis is charged with aggravated assault, robbery and simple assault.
