Liverpool head coach Arne Slot provides an injury update before facing Brighton this year

After beating Brighton 3-2 on Wednesday, Liverpool progressed to the next round of the EFL Cup away to Southampton. Still without some important faces in the squad, both for the starting and depth positions, Reds boss Arne Slot informed about everyone absent in today's press conference.

When asked about Diogo Jota and Alisson Becker:

“I think I've said it a few times that it's always difficult to say exactly when they'll be ready because the final phase of recovery can always take a few days more or less.

“The fact is they won’t be there before the international break and let’s see if they can join us afterwards.”

Slot was asked about the possible availability of our latest signing, Federico Chiesa:

“Chiesa won’t be back before the international break but there’s only a week left. We hope that he can make something happen again during the international break and then join us afterwards.”

Harvey Elliott is not mentioned in this press conference, however it was previously confirmed that Harvey is still a long way from returning and will most likely continue to do so after the upcoming international break.

Alisson Becker was missing from half-time of Liverpool's 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League and Diogo Jota was missing since their clash with Chelsea where he sustained a rib injury. Harvey Elliott missed most of the season with a foot injury. No significant details have been revealed about Chiesa's injury. Arne points to a combination of fitness issues and injury issues as the Italian had no pre-season and had to jump to a level of intensity that was unfamiliar to him.

Hopefully this international break will allow the boys to rest and come back stronger for the Christmas period.
