Houston woman faces murder after daughter found dead in Galveston | NewsRadio 740 KTRH

A Houston mother is now charged with murder after her young daughter was found abandoned at the Galveston Seawall Wednesday morning.

The 17-month-old was found near 59th Street around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday and taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries.

The child's mother, 30-year-old Channel Yonko, was arrested two hours later and then charged with murder. Police said preliminary findings showed the baby fell, but other injuries made it clear the death was not an accidental death. They did not provide any information about the child's injuries.

Yonko is currently in the Galveston County Jail and is being held without bail.
