Anthony Edwards' viral two-word clapback to critics of his shot selection

Minnesota Timberwolves star guard Anthony Edwards has made a significant change in his shot selection this offseason.

Edwards attempted 6.7 three-pointers per game last season and is now averaging 13.4 attempts in five games. To his credit, he is hitting at a significantly higher rate from 35.7% (2024) to 43.3% (2025).

This style of play has earned Edwards additional criticism as they are not fans of the outside approach for the explosive dunker. The 23-year-old could be reckless.

“What would you say to someone who said you shoot too many threes?” asked a reporter.

“[Expletive] “You,” Edwards said.

This is the version of Edwards that Wolves fans love. The confident, confident superstar.

However, Timberwolves reporter Dane Moore felt it was important to point out that the All-Star also shares “smarter, more thoughtful answers like this lately.” The remark Moore is referring to relates to Wolves' struggle to keep their mark, with Edwrds sharing the following:

“This is the third game in a row where we make a run and then just die,” Edwards said. “They come back, take the lead. We have to figure out how to maintain that leadership. When we have that 15-point lead, we have to step it up a little bit more, and maybe that's partly because I'm just playing very relaxed. “If we take the lead in the next game, I'll try to step it up give it a try and see how it goes.”

Despite struggling to maintain the lead, the Wolves prevailed 119-116 over the Denver Nuggets on Friday night. Edwards finished with 29 points on 7 of 14 shooting from three-point range.
