Kane ensures a Bayern gala – a special debut for Kompany-Juwel

FC Bayern delivers their next confident victory in the Bundesliga. Harry Kane is ice-cold against Union Berlin – in the final phase there is a professional debut.

FC Bayern has achieved its next clear victory in the Bundesliga. The German record champions didn't show any weakness against Union Berlin and cemented their lead in the table with a 3-0 win. At the back there was a clean sheet for the third time in a row – and at the front Harry Kane made the difference with two goals and an assist.

Under coach Vincent Kompany, Bayern has now scored 50 goals this season – the first team in Europe's top five leagues.

Against disciplined but largely harmless guests, English superstar Kane scored the opening goal with a penalty in the 15th minute of the game after Michael Olise was brought down in the penalty area. Kane scored 81 of his 92 penalties. He has never missed a shot in a Bayern jersey.

Shortly before half-time, Kingsley Coman followed up on the stronger preparatory work from Alphonso Davies and Kane. Davies let opponent Christopher Trimmel run into space, his pass into the middle was passed straight on to Kane – and Coman was left blank in front of Frederik Rönnow's goal.

Kane makes the decision

Kane's second strike came in the second half when Coman retaliated with a header assist (51'). It was preceded by a cross from Raphael Guerreiro.

“It’s fantastic,” said Kane on Sky about the style of play under Kompany: “We really dominate with the ball, but also without it.” The way we press and win the ball, we create a lot of chances.”

After the titleless season, the Bayern stars were even hungrier, Kane explained: “We said before the season that we were in control of our own destiny if we played the right way.”

With the third goal the party was decided and Union concentrated even more on defending than before. Sky expert Dietmar Hamann was also very impressed by the current Bayern team: “If they continue like this, they will be hard to beat in the league.” The former player identified the competition under Kompany as a big trump card.”

“It keeps the tension high, everyone wants to play.” The coach does an excellent job and has good contact with the players. It’s just fun.”

New strong – Aznou gets his first professional appearance

Ultimately, there was only one good chance for the Berliners for a long time. In the 33rd minute, Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who had recently been criticized a lot, was there with a strong reflex. After a shot from close range by Jordan Siebatcheu, the Bayern keeper raised his arms and directed the ball over the crossbar.

In the second half, Neuer was only challenged once more shortly before the end of the game – again he reacted strongly to a shot from Yorbe Vertessen. For the first time since May 2020, FCB has not conceded three games in a row.

Kompany took advantage of the opportunity and made a good change in the final phase. Jamal Musiala, Michael Olise, Minjae Kim and Joao Palhinha watched the final minutes from the bench after their work was done. Kompany also left the Moroccan youngster Adam Aznou on the field for around ten minutes – it was the full-back's first appearance with the professionals. Dayot Upamecano, who was recently injured, played through.

Kane with a stronger balance sheet

After nine Bundesliga matchdays, Kane has ten goals and seven assists. He scored six times in the last three Bundesliga games alone.

In the table, the Munich team are three points ahead at the top before the evening duel between RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund. RB can catch up again with a success against the Black and Yellows.
