A 70-year-old man dies in a car accident

MINDEN, La. (KSLA) – A driver veered off the road and fatally crashed into a tree in Webster Parish.

On November 1st at 11:45 a.m., Louisiana State Police (LSP) responded to a single vehicle accident on Dorcheat Road north of Grigsby Road in Webster Parish. The crash claimed the life of 70-year-old John Waldron of Sibley.

During the investigation, it was determined that Waldron was driving a 2013 Ford pickup north of Dorcheat Road when, for unknown reasons, he left the roadway and collided with a tree.

Waldron, who was not restrained, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

LSP does not suspect impairment, but routine toxicology samples were collected and submitted for testing.

The crash is still under investigation.

“Although not all accidents are survivable, proper use of seat belts can significantly reduce an occupant's risk of death and significantly reduce the extent of injuries. Ensuring that every occupant is properly secured can often mean the difference between life and death,” LSP said in a statement.
