4 Famous Dance Breaks in Iconic Music Videos

So many music videos over the years are pretty memorable, but the ones that stick in pop culture's collective consciousness for years involve iconic dance breaks. Let's take a look at some iconic music videos with dance breaks. Some of us probably know these moves by heart!

1. “Hot To Go” by Chappell Roan

The “Hot To Go” music video and accompanying dance routine à la The Village People have blown up in recent months, as has Chappell Roan. Throughout her meteoric rise to fame, Roan has continued to perform this pop banger live… And there's nothing like watching a crowd of thousands perform this super fun dance routine in person.

2. “Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga

Whether you're a die-hard Little Monster or a casual Lady Gaga fan, you can probably recognize this song from the first few notes of its chorus… and also the iconic dance routine that goes with it. Nobody made dance-pop like Gaga in the late 2000s. This particular music video and dance routine have since been etched in the minds of fans and haters alike.

3. “Here It Goes Again” by OK Go

Dance breaks in music videos are usually well choreographed, but few have included the use of treadmills. In this entire 2006 music video, the band members dance on treadmills to their chart-topping power pop hit. It's certainly a low-budget initiative, but it's worth it. The camera is stationary and the members of OK Go simply bounce back and forth in one continuous shot. Many young kids from the early days of YouTube tried to recreate this iconic dance break, without success. Treadmills can be dangerous!

4. “Dancing In The Dark” by Bruce Springsteen

How about a real look back? Bruce Springsteen's 1984 hit “Dancing In The Dark” is a great song in its own right, but you just can't beat this music video. The video itself was a simple performance video starring Courteney Cox, and the two icons began dancing on stage. Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Carlton The Fresh Prince of Bel-Airsaid that Cox's dance moves inspired his character's own dance moves on the show.
