One person died in an accident involving a construction worker in Monroe County

VILLAGE OF OAKDALE, Wis. (WEAU) – An accident involving a construction worker near the Village of Oakdale Friday evening left one person dead.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, a vehicle was traveling in a construction zone on Interstate 90 when it crashed into the bed of a semi-truck. The driver, 25-year-old Isaac Morales Jr., then lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a road machine. The construction worker driving the road construction equipment, identified as 35-year-old Andrew Skupniewitz, died at the scene.

The highway was closed for around six hours so that the scene of the accident could be examined and the vehicles removed. Alcohol and speed are believed to have contributed to the crash.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
