Pokemon Go leak shows early mega evolution plans

Pokémon Go has been around for years with Mega Evolutions and has since moved on to only adding Gigantamax Pokemon in October, but long before the Mega Evolutions were implemented they looked a little different Pokémon Go. According to some documents leaked online as a result of the massive Game Freak hack, the Mega Energy was originally called something completely different, more in line with the items Pokemon Go players are familiar with from the mainline games.

In Pokémon GoThe Mega Evolution system is controlled by a resource called Mega Energy, which players must collect in order to Mega Evolve their Pokémon such as Charizard, Venusaur, Blastoise, Gengar, and more. The Mega Evolution state that these Pokémon take on is temporary and is similar to how the system works in the main games, but the Mega Energy is unique Pokémon Go Since all major Pokémon games basically required a specific Mega Stone for each Pokémon that you wanted to Mega Evolve.

But after these new ones Pokémon Go As leaks show, Mega Stones were once planned for the mobile Pokémon game. A Redditor shared the following document this week, which appears to be early versions of it Pokémon Go Mega Evolution system, with a translated version of the image showing that “Mega Stone Fragments” were used to work on complete Mega Stones. Players can obtain these Mega Stone Fragments by participating in Mega Raids against Mega Evolution Pokémon and earning more Mega Stone Fragments depending on the difficulty of the raid. Earned a Mega Beedril, for example Pokémon Go Players will receive fewer fragments than when fighting a Mega Tyranitar.

This concept is essentially the same as the Mega Energy mechanic we have now Pokémon Go albeit with some interesting (and mostly inconsequential) differences. On the one hand, the document shows that players will earn a maximum of around 100 mega stone fragments in the toughest raid to date Pokémon GoThe current Mega Raids can bring players much more Mega Energy. From the documents it appears that the name Mega Stone Fragment was always temporary, and it's not too surprising why it was changed.

While Pokémon Go has always used its own mechanics, as not everything from the main Pokémon games could be transferred to it Pokémon GoMega Stone Fragments were probably decided against Mega Stone Fragments due to the lack of a fragment system in the main Pokemon series. Rather than having to justify why Mega Stone Fragments were never talked about in the main games even though Mega Stones already existed, Niantic, Game Freak, and The Pokemon Company probably just decided that it was easier to rename the mechanic altogether.

When the above document was shared, Pokémon Go Players quickly noticed something else interesting: a blue Charizard X that primarily had an electric type. While this is an interesting idea, the most likely reason for this appearance is that the Mega Charizard asset simply wasn't ready for these documents yet, so we got a Blue Charizard instead. However, it's probably best not to get your hopes up about a blue Charizard being added to the game in the future.

Other Mega Evolution leaks from the same Pokemon incident showed that we actually had the better version of Mega Gengar compared to what Game Freak and The Pokemon Company originally cooked up. There was supposed to be a Mega Jynx at some point, but luckily it didn't happen.
