Michigan vs Oregon live stream, where to watch, TV channel, prediction, picks, football match odds, spread

No. 1 Oregon is in pole position to win the Big Ten and secure a bye in the College Football Playoff, but can't afford a slip-up on the road to the Big House.

The Ducks are thriving in their first season in the new 18-team Big Ten. Led by quarterback Dillon Gabriel, they have looked great since surviving their biggest test of the season against Ohio State. Oregon easily handled Illinois 38-9 last week and appears to be coming together at the right time after some struggles early in the season.

The same cannot be said for Michigan, which looks like a shell of the team that won a national championship last season. The Wolverines' win over Michigan State last week was crucial after they lost their previous two games (Washington, Illinois), but they still look weak on offense and rank last among the Power Four in passing offense. Teams (130th).

The schedule has been shaping up well for Oregon as a home game against Ohio State, but a trip to Michigan this weekend will be the first real road test of the season. With a win, Oregon would start the season 9-0 for the first time since 2012.

Michigan vs. Oregon: What you need to know

QB mix: Michigan has rotated through quarterbacks all season, with little success or rhythm. Initially it was former substitutes Davis Warren and Alex Orji who shared the roles. Then Michigan turned to Jack Tuttle, who shared relief duties with Orji against Washington and started against Illinois, but left this week due to health concerns due to concussions. Now it's back to Warren, who went 13 of 19 for 123 yards and a touchdown in the win over the Spartans. It feels like Warren should be the man for the rest of the game, but it's unclear if the offense continues to struggle. Warren will have to play the game of his life on Saturday if the Wolverines want to have a real chance against Oregon.

Record clock: Sixth-year quarterback Dillon Gabriel has a chance to make history on Saturday, even if he needs his best performance of the season to do so. Gabriel is four touchdowns away from breaking former Houston quarterback Case Keenum's NCAA record for most touchdowns in a career (177). Gabriel has never thrown more than three touchdowns in a game this season. If he doesn't do that, it could take until next week's game against Maryland for him to set the record. He will continue to chase Keenum for the most passing touchdowns and passing yards in his career.

Bad luck: Not only is Michigan a significant underdog against Oregon, but it will also have to overcome a long historical record to pull off an upset on Saturday. The last time Michigan beat the No. 1 team in the country was in 1984 — 40 years ago — against No. 1 Miami. The quarterback in this game? None other than Jim Harbaugh. Since then, the Wolverines have lost their last eight games against the top team in the country, most recently in 2006 against Ohio State in a 1-on-2 game. Michigan has a dismal record at 3-16-1 all-time against No. 1 opponents.

Oregon rolls while Michigan struggles. The Ducks can score big points, the Wolverines can't. There are many other reasons to choose Oregon over Michigan, and that is not an argument to dissuade you from this choice. But it will be the Ducks' toughest remaining test of the regular season and could be closer than expected, especially if Michigan's defensive line can benefit from an Oregon offensive line that has recently improved but still has its issues. I like Oregon to win outright, but I think Michigan could create a backdoor cover. Pick: Michigan +14.5
