Pennsylvania man charged with murdering two people in New Jersey, including the mother of his child

A 37-year-old man has been charged with two counts of murder in a shooting in Burlington County earlier this week that killed a woman and her adult daughter, officials announced Saturday.

Junior Edwards, of Landsdowne, Pennsylvania, broke into the home of Catherine Nunez, 33, and her mother, Marisol Nunez, 54, early Wednesday and fatally shot both women, the Burlington County District Attorney's Office alleges.

The shooting took place in the Hawthorne Park neighborhood of Willingboro and an initial investigation revealed that Catherine Nunez and Edwards shared an 8-year-old son who was in the home at the time of the shooting, officials said.

The child was not injured in the shooting, authorities said Saturday.

Edwards is also charged with first-degree armed burglary and endangering the welfare of a child, as well as second-degree weapons offenses.

Willingboro police were called to the first block of Harrington Circle just after 4 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a burglary in progress and discovered someone had broken into the home through a second-floor window, authorities said .

The women's bodies were found in an upstairs bedroom. According to investigators, both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say a gun believed to have been used in the shooting was found outside the home.

Edwards was served with the charges Friday in Philadelphia, where he was already in custody on other charges, authorities said Saturday.

An attorney for Edwards could not immediately be reached for comment Saturday.
