Woman, 52, Goes Viral After Getting Card at Girls Night Out (Exclusive)

  • Mom LaeTania Richardson, 52, recently went viral after sharing with her friends how she got a card while going out
  • Richardson tells PEOPLE that she even asked security to repeat his request to make sure she heard him correctly
  • However, according to Richardson, there is an even greater compliment than being told she looks young for her age

At 52, LaeTania Richardson says being told she looks young is nothing new to her, but when she was ticketed during a night out with friends, she went viral on TikTok.

“I wanted to celebrate my friend Danielle's 50th birthday and decided to invite her to dinner,” Richardson tells PEOPLE. “We went to Level 8 here in Los Angeles.”

“As we approached it [security] There were a few people in front of us and the guy kind of let them in and then he stops us and then he says, 'I need some ID from you,'” she remembers. “And I thought, ‘What? I have to catch this on camera because I know you won't ask me for ID.” ”

He says, “Yes, I need your ID,” the Los Angeles-based entrepreneur adds.

After deciding the moment needed to be captured, Richardson said she “gave my camera to the presenter who was standing next to him and started recording.”

She even asked security to repeat his request to make sure he was actually asking for her ID. When she replied that she was 52 years old, she said the bouncer responded with one word: “What?”

Although people are “often” shocked at her age, Richardson said what surprised her about this particular incident was that the people ahead of her in line were not asked for their ID.

She adds that she was flattered by the request as she felt very beautiful that night. “Thanks for the nod, thanks for the recognition,” she says of her feelings at that moment.

Although she thought what happened was “a sweet moment,” she admits she was shocked that the video “blew up.”

“It’s become this thing,” she adds, “It’s crazy to me.”

Richardson, who has only been on TikTok for about a year, says her pride at being 52 motivated her to share her life on the platform.

“For me, aging is a luxury that not everyone can afford. I feel like a lot of women at 40 feel like, 'You know I'm old, I'm afraid to start over,' and that's what comes to mind,” she says. “And for me, I am too. Just one of those people who says, 'No!' Be proud of who you are, you've got so much experience behind you… I totally embrace that.”

When asked by PEOPLE about her secrets to staying young, Richardson says there's no big secret.

“I have been using Noxema since I was 12 years old. I get this little cocoa butter stick from the beauty supply store and then I get microdermabrasion every six weeks,” she says. “So that’s the complete routine.”

Additionally, Richardson's adherence to a “very disciplined” diet contributes to her appearance, as she tells PEOPLE that she “hardly eats fast food” and “doesn't drink alcohol” or “smoke cigarettes” — and forgoes soda in favor of “a lot “, lots of water”.

If there is a secret, Richardson believes it lies in “maintaining a youthful spirit.”

“I think sometimes when we get to a certain age, people feel like they need to cut it down somehow,” she says, sharing that she's keen to avoid unnecessary stress.

Richardson believes being the mother of a 21-year-old son also “keeps her young,” although she admits he didn't always like having such a youthful-looking mother in high school.

Overall, Richardson says it's an even bigger compliment than being told she looks young for her age.

“I live my life every day with the intention of doing what makes me happy. “The biggest compliment I get, especially on social media, is when someone says my insides match my outsides,” she says. “That means the world to me.”
