Man is accused of planting explosive devices in a casino

TAMPA, Fla. (WWSB/Gray News) – Officers arrested a man accused of planting explosive devices at a casino, prompting evacuations.

The Seminole Hard Rock Casino Tampa was evacuated twice in 12 hours on Sept. 30 after two explosive devices were found in the men's restroom.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement officers arrested 46-year-old Bryan Robert Eckley in connection with the incident.

Officials reported Eckley hid two radio-controlled explosive devices in two restrooms at a local casino. Employees found the devices before they could cause any damage.

After interviews, surveillance and analysis, investigators determined Eckley was their suspect.

Days before the explosives were planted, Eckley was arrested by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in an unrelated aggravated assault case. Forensic analysts linked evidence from the case to the devices.

Eckley was arrested on October 30 and booked into the Hillsborough County Jail. The 13th Judicial District Attorney's Office will prosecute the case.

The investigation remains active. Eckley is currently being held at the Hillsborough County Jail.
