Schenectady man charged in drug trafficking investigation

A Schenectady man is facing charges for his alleged involvement in a drug trafficking incident.

This case began two years ago when the U.S. Department of Justice announced that Nekie Ricks, 31, was arrested on August 24, 2022 for allegedly possessing cocaine with the intent to distribute it and possessing a weapon despite already having one was a convicted felon.

Ricks was arraigned Thursday in Albany. A hearing was held on Friday at which custody was ordered.

If found guilty, Ricks will be sentenced to a minimum of five years in prison and up to life in prison, plus supervised release.
