John Mulaney has an update on his “feminine hips”

The comedian, presenter SNL For the sixth time, he also wonders about a specific type of injury among seniors

Comedian and actor John Mulaney returned as Saturday Night Live Host with a not-so-good update about his “feminine hips”: He may end up having hip surgery.

Mulaney, who most recently hosted SNL in February 2022, when he became a member of the Five Timers Club, joked about aging. At 42, he said he wasn't feeling particularly well.

“My parents picked a bad time to grow old. When I was younger, maybe I could have helped them. But I can't now. I’m 42. I’m not feeling well either,” he said. “My brother called me in April. He says, “Mommy fell.” I fell! It hurt!”

“I also have a band-aid on my palm. “Older people love a Band-Aid on the top of their hand,” he continued, imagining that they could all injure their hands in the same way, such as fending off knife-wielding robbers with their palms facing forward In.

Mulaney then revealed that he had a tear in his right labrum and was undergoing weekly physical therapy for it – along with three older women.

“We lay on mats. We press the small of our back into the mat to stabilize ourselves. Then we do these little crunches to strengthen our muscles and vagina,” he joked. “And we work really hard. We cheer each other on. There’s silver hair and turquoise jewelry everywhere.”

And then the bad news: “Out of all the women in the class, the teacher singled me out and said that I wouldn't benefit from physical therapy in the long term and that I wouldn't even benefit from laparoscopic surgery,” and that at some point I would should undergo hip surgery.”

“I’m going to get my hip replaced,” he said, “and my mom is going to drive me home.”
