Suspect arrested in shooting at DNC office in Tempe

PHOENIX – A suspect was arrested Tuesday in connection with the multiple shootings at the Democratic National Committee office in Tempe, authorities said.

The same suspect is charged with hanging suspicious bags of white powder from several political signs lined with razor blades in Ahwatukee, according to Tempe police.

When did the DNC shootings happen?

The gunfire damage was first discovered shortly after midnight on September 16 at a Democratic campaign office in Tempe. Authorities determined that the front windows had been shot with a pellet gun or pellet gun.

A week later, workers who arrived at the office discovered additional gunshot damage to the front window.

After the second attack, Tempe police Sgt. Ryan Cook said the situation was dangerous, although there were no human injuries.

“No one was in the office during the overnight hours, but this raises concerns for the safety of those who work in this building as well as those nearby,” Cook said in a news release the day after the second shooting.

The most recent shooting occurred earlier this month. There were a total of three different shootings, and no one was in the office at any of the shootings.

Tempe police will hold a news conference Wednesday to identify the suspect and provide additional details about the case.

No further details were disclosed.
