Legendary rock band retires after 55 years and announces date of final show

Jeff Lynne and Electric Light Orchestra call it a career.

The legendary rock band has announced its final show will take place on July 13, 2025 during the BST Summertime Festival in London's Hyde Park.

It marks the end of a 55-year career for the band.

“My return to touring began in Hyde Park in 2014,” Lynne said, according to Billboard. “It seems like the perfect place for our final show. We couldn't be more excited to share this special evening in London with our UK fans. AS the song says, 'We'll do it again!'”

According to Billboard, the band is currently on their “Over and Out US Tour,” which is scheduled to end this weekend in Los Angeles.

ELO was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.

The band was formed and began playing in 1970.

ELO was rocked by earlier this year the death of original member Richard Tandy at the age of 76.

“He was a remarkable musician and friend and I will cherish the lifelong memories we had together,” Lynne said in May. “Sending all my love to Sheila and the Tandy family.”
