The FBI says it was imitated in two fake election security videos

The FBI has denied two videos allegedly made by the FBI that raise concerns about election integrity.

“The FBI is aware of two videos that falsely claim to be from the FBI and relate to election security,” the FBI said in a press release posted on its X social media page.

The FBI statement said one of the videos claimed the FBI had arrested three linked groups that committed election fraud.

The agency said the second suspicious video related in some way to Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, but did not elaborate.

“These videos are not authentic, do not come from the FBI, and the content they depict is false. “Election integrity is among our highest priorities, and the FBI is working closely with state and local law enforcement partners to respond to election threats and protect our communities while Americans exercise their right to vote,” the FBI said.

“Attempts to deceive the public with false content about FBI operations undermine our democratic process and aim to undermine trust in the electoral system.”

False election claims continue to strain the electoral process as states complete early voting and prepare to count ballots on November 5.

Last week, the Bucks County Board of Elections in Pennsylvania reported a video that purportedly showed someone tearing up mail-in ballots in the county. In an Oct. 24 statement, the county Board of Elections said the ballots shown in the video were not authentic materials for Bucks County. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the FBI also issued a joint statement on October 25 denying the authenticity of the video and saying it was a disinformation product by Russian actors .

This week, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger denied another video purporting to show a Haitian citizen claiming to have voted multiple times using multiple Georgian IDs. Raffensperger said the video was false and was likely “foreign interference.” He said he also brought the matter to CISA's attention.

The investigators are examining further possible allegations of election interference in more detail.

Raffensperger said Nov. 2 that his office had identified four people who may have attempted to cast multiple ballots during the early voting period in Georgia. He said the matter remains under investigation and his office will refer individual cases to local district attorneys if they believe those individuals have violated the law.

Last week, election officials in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, began examining 2,500 voter registration forms they received in two batches. While some of the registration forms in these two batches appeared legitimate, Lancaster County District Attorney Heather Adams said others were dubious and possibly fraudulent.
