“Real Time” host Bill Maher was furious over President Biden's “garbage” comment about Trump supporters, suggesting it could have a big impact on Election Day.

“I think it's a bigger faux pas than people think,” Maher began his panel discussion Friday evening. “It's so funny, Joe Biden, his whole career he was like Mr. Gaffe, and then at the very end – he's like Aaron Judge in Game Six. He just fumbled the fly ball and ended up blowing the whole thing [game].”

“Because I feel like it embodies everything the Trump people hate about the Democrats. They look down on us. It's like 'deplorable' times ten,” Maher said.

Michael Moynihan, co-host of “The Fifth Column” podcast, agreed with Maher, saying he endorsed the belief that “the elite” hated Trump supporters and promptly fired him The media debate over “the apostrophe” because it was “clear” what Biden was talking about, he stressed, was “not a net positive for Democrats.”

Bulwark's Tim Miller said the “stupid” comment wasn't that damaging, telling Maher: “I don't know if Trump exploited him as much as some people might want to think.”

The HBO host then turned to insult comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's “garbage” joke, which sparked the controversy that erupted at Trump's rally at Madison Square Garden when he referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of trash.”

“Did the Democrats look weak because they can't take a joke?” Maher asked. “Because I think that’s another Achilles heel that they have.”

“Look, I have to defend my profession,” Maher said later. “I am a comedian. I'm a free speech absolutist… That was offensive. But this guy is an insult comedian. Why he’s there.” [event] – it’s like bringing cocaine to a funeral.”

Maher also commented on Biden's inability to “keep his mouth shut” early in the show during his opening monologue.

“To be fair, he was on a video call and thought he was just yelling at the TV,” Maher joked.
