Shreveport man found guilty of killing neighbor | In case you missed it

SHREVEPORT, La. – A Shreveport man has been convicted by a Caddo Parish jury in the shooting death of his neighbor on November 22, 2021.

The jury concluded that 66-year-old Jimmy Cockerhem killed 61-year-old Gary Lee in front of his home in the 1700 block of Alda Street in Shreveport's Martin Luther King Jr. neighborhood.

Cockerhem, who lived next door to Lee, left his home with his wife and drove to Willie Mays Street, where he parked his car armed with a gun and walked about 140 feet across an empty lot to confront Lee, whom he then shot in the head. Lee was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

Cockerhem will return to court on November 12 for the sentencing. He faces a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, parole or suspension of sentence.
