Arrested after lengthy investigation into drug trafficking in Rome

A Syracuse man was arrested by Rome police Friday on drug and weapons charges.

The Rome Police Special Investigations Unit issued several search warrants following a lengthy investigation into cocaine distribution in the city of Rome.

The search uncovered 133 individual packages of cocaine, two handguns, ammunition and nearly $400 cash.

As a result of the investigation, 39-year-old Alfred L. Thomas was arrested and charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree.

Thomas was charged, processed and held at Rome police headquarters for arraignment.
