One person is dead and two others were injured after a tanker truck carrying fuel crashed into several cars on the 110 Freeway in the Florence area.

All northbound lanes of the 110 Freeway in South Los Angeles are closed from Century Boulevard to Manchester Boulevard as hazard crews work to overturn the big rig and remove fuel from it. Meanwhile, according to the California Highway Patrol, an emergency response team is working to rescue the driver whose body was stuck in a vehicle involved in the accident.

The name of the person who died in the crash has not been released. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the other two people who suffered minor injuries were a 45-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman.

The incident was reported shortly before 11 p.m. on Saturday after the tanker truck collided with several cars on the highway for reasons that are still unclear.

Video from the scene showed the tanker tipping over on its side, leaving at least two cars stuck on the highway and damaged. Another vehicle was seen trapped under the large rig.

An estimated 500 to 1,000 gallons of fuel spilled onto the highway.

The investigation is still ongoing. It is unclear when the northbound lanes of the 110 Freeway will reopen.
