Miami Dolphins Rumors: Teams have called to inquire about Calais Campbell

The Miami Dolphins are currently 2-5 and their 2024 NFL Playoffs hopes are uncertain, and teams around the NFL are starting to take notice.

If Miami loses again on Sunday to its AFC East rival, the Buffalo Bills, the team would likely begin to focus on the 2025 season and – in doing so – begin making players readily available for trade.

According to The Athletic's senior NFL insider Dianna Russini, teams have already started looking at veteran defensive tackle Calais Campbell.

Campbell, 38, is in his 17th NFL season and, if we're being honest, was one of the best players on the Dolphins' roster this year. The former second-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft started all seven games for Miami this season, recording 22 tackles, 7 TFL, two sacks, five quarterback hits, three pass breakups and a forced fumble.

Prior to his time in Miami, Campbell spent nine seasons with the Arizona Cardinals (2008-2016), three with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2017-2019), three with the Baltimore Ravens (2020-2022) and one with the Atlanta Falcons (2023). ).

Campbell signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins this offseason worth $2 million.

The decision on what a team would trade in exchange for Campbell is unclear. Personally, I can't imagine anything more than a late-round draft pick or perhaps a player in exchange for the ageless veteran. And honestly, I think the Dolphins should do what's best for Campbell and let him play with a contender. Assuming everything goes downhill in Buffalo tomorrow as expected.

For those who don't know, the NFL trade deadline is this Tuesday, November 5th at 4:00 PM EST.
