The Bears benched Tyrique Stevenson against the Cardinals for a viral Hail Mary video against Commanders

The Chicago Bears are benching cornerback Tyrique Stevenson for Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

Rapoport reported that this was a “demotion for a week” after Stevenson posted a viral video in which he mocked fans and was slow to respond to Jayden Daniels' mail-mary pass that helped the Washington Commanders win last week the Bears helped.

The 2023 second-round pick was the focus of criticism and jokes after the video was played and appeared. He apologized on social media hours after the game ended.

According to Rapoport, Stevenson won't be completely ruled out in Week 9. He remains on the active roster “and is expected to rotate in with cornerback Terell Smith.” The NFL insider added to the Hail Mary that “this is expected to be the final step in the detente process.”

On Sunday, Chicago will try to slow down Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray after he threw for a season-best 307 yards in a win over the Miami Dolphins last week.
