Essex District Attorney Paul Tucker announced Sunday that Katrina Nguyen has been charged with two counts of motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation, leaving the scene causing death, leaving the scene causing bodily harm, leaving the scene causing property damage and operating a motor vehicle after the Suspension.

Hit and run on Interstate 495

A 37-year-old man and a 41-year-old man died in the crash on the northbound side of I-495 around 6 a.m. Saturday. Two other people were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

All four people were in a pickup truck that crashed into a tree in the center lane, leaving them trapped in the heavily damaged vehicle. Police have not released the names of the crash victims.

According to police, the driver of a second vehicle did not stop at the scene of the accident. Massachusetts State Police said Saturday they were searching for the driver.

Nguyen later turned himself in to Lawrence police.

People who live and work in the area told WBZ-TV that cars in the area regularly speed. It's unclear whether speed played a role in Saturday's crash.

The accident remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police and the Essex District Attorney's Office.
