Dawson's Creek's James Van Der Beek opens up about being diagnosed with colon cancer

James Van Der Beek gives insights into his private battle for health.

The Dawson's Creek Alum was diagnosed with colon cancer, he said in a statement to People Nov. 3, while noting that he “has taken steps to resolve the issue with the support of my incredible family.”

“There is reason for optimism,” the 47-year-old added of his journey with colorectal cancer, which originates in the colon or rectum, “and I feel good.”
