NOPD officer and second driver hospitalized after Sunday morning crash on St. Charles Avenue

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A New Orleans police officer and a second driver were hospitalized after a crash early Sunday (November 3) on St. Charles Avenue in Uptown New Orleans, the department said.

Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, an NOPD spokesman said.

According to the NOPD, the Sixth District officer was traveling eastbound on St. Charles at 7:42 a.m. on a Code 2 call, which meant his lights and siren were activated. But while crossing the intersection onto Louisiana Avenue, the officer unit was struck by a woman driving a Honda Civic.

No other injuries were reported and no citations were issued, the department said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation and the officer involved has not been identified by the department.
