According to the report, the Bears' Tyrique Stevenson had to cancel practice after it was announced that the demotion for Hail Mary failed

For one team, it was the game of its season. For the other, it was a viral moment for all the wrong reasons. The Week 8 contest between the Chicago Bears and Washington Commanders ended with a 52-yard Hail Mary pass from Jayden Daniels to Noah Brown as time expired to end the game.

The Commanders won the battle between No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams and No. 2 overall pick Daniels. Not long after everyone marveled at the incredible play, fans pointed it out highlighting a Bears player's inadequacies in the game.

Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson interacted with fans in the stands during the live game, taunting some opposing fans and turning in the opposite direction of the rest of the players on the field.

Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said afterward, according to The Athletic, Stevenson was tasked with boxing out Brown on the final play of the game, but arrived too late and passed the ball to Brown, which only made the situation seem worse.

Stevenson's actions not only caused Chicago to potentially lose the game, it also earned him a week-long demotion. Stevenson reportedly will not start the Bears' road game against the Arizona Cardinals because of what happened last week.

After finding out he wouldn't be in the starting lineup this week, Stevenson canceled practice, according to a report from the pregame show “NFL on Fox,” which Jay Glazer said didn't go over well with the Bears.

Stevenson is expected to remain active and play, alternating with cornerback Terell Smith.

He has already apologized for his actions on social media and in speaking to the media. “To Chicago and his teammates, I apologize for the lack of attention and concentration… The game is not over until there are zeros on the clock. I can't take anything for granted. Notes taken, improvements will occur. #Beardown,” Stevenson wrote on social media.

He also told reporters: “I know that I let them down and that these guys hold me to a higher standard, just like everyone else in this building.

The 24-year-old has started six games this season and has 35 tackles, including six break-ups and one interception for a touchdown.
