Putney man arrested for grievous bodily harm and hate crime

PUTNEY — On Feb. 11, Vermont State Police arrested a Putney man on multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a weapon and a hate crime, following a late-night altercation.

Zachary Goldberg, 42, was taken into custody following reports of an altercation involving a firearm on Vinegar Lane.

State troopers were on scene at 1:15 a.m. interviewing victims and witnesses.

Authorities determined that Goldberg pointed a gun at a person, engaged in disorderly conduct, and made criminal threats using offensive and hateful language.

Goldberg was arraigned at the Westminster State Police Barracks and released with a citation and conditions.

He is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division, on February 4 at 12:30 p.m
