Kings' DeMar DeRozan responds to Viral Drake's comment

The Sacramento Kings signed six-time All-Star DeMar DeRozan this offseason, as the veteran forward has already announced his presence on their new roster. Through six games, DeRozan leads the Kings with 25.3 points per game as the Kings sit at 3-3 to start the season.

The Kings traveled to the Toronto Raptors on Saturday night, DeRozan's first home game in the NBA. DeRozan played his first nine NBA seasons in Toronto, earning four All-Star appearances and two All-NBA Team honors.

DeRozan's return to the Raptors' Scotiabank Arena wasn't as nice as his time there and caused some drama with Toronto music industry superstar Drake.

On Saturday, the Raptors honored NBA Hall of Famer Vince Carter by retiring his jersey, but Drake made it clear on the Raptors' broadcast during the game that the franchise should not do the same for DeRozan.

“If you ever put up a DeRozan banner, I’ll tear the thing down myself.”

The NBA and rap stars had respect for each other when DeRozan played for the Raptors, but the newfound hatred has made its way into the public eye. Drake didn't hide his feelings during the game and specifically told DeRozan how he felt.

DeRozan didn't hesitate to respond to Drake and addressed the matter in his post-game press release:

“He’s going to have a long way up to get it down, so good luck.”

The Kings star also took to social media and responded to Drake on his Instagram Story:

Regardless of whether DeRozan has done enough for the Raptors franchise to have his jersey retired, the disrespect towards the star musician is nothing short of crazy.

DeRozan ultimately didn't seem bothered by Drake's comments, more upset about the Kings' disappointing loss than anything else.
