Junior Edwards was charged with the Willingboro home invasion and shooting that killed Catherine Nunez and Marisol Nunez in Burlington County, New Jersey

WILLINGBORO, N.J. – A Pennsylvania man has been arrested in connection with a deadly double shooting in New Jersey that left a mother and her daughter dead.

Junior Edwards, 37, of Lansdowne, was arraigned Friday in Philadelphia, where he had already been taken into custody on unrelated charges.

He has since been charged with first-degree murder, home invasion, burglary with a firearm and other related offenses.

The incident began when police were called to a home in Willingboro, Burlington County, just after 4 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a burglary in progress.

When officers arrived, they found the bodies of 33-year-old Catherine Nunez and her mother, 54-year-old Marisol Nunez, in an upstairs bedroom.

Both had suffered gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe Edwards entered the home through the second floor window. Officers also seized a handgun outside the house.

Authorities later revealed that Edwards and Catherine Nunez had an 8-year-old son together. According to police, the child was at home during the shooting but was not injured.

Officials did not say what might have sparked the break-in and shooting.
