Driver dies in crash on US 50 near Austin

AUSTIN, Nev. (KOLO) – A driver died in an Oct. 17 crash on U.S. 50 west of Austin in central Nevada, Nevada State Police said Sunday.

A passenger in the Hyundai Santa Fe suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The NSP said around 3:45 p.m. on Oct. 17, the Hyundai was traveling east on U.S. 50 when it crossed the right side of the highway, struck a concrete curb and went down a steep embankment. It overturned and came to rest in a stream bed.

Both the driver and passenger were taken to hospital for treatment. The driver died a few days later, the NSP said. The driver's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
