Massachusetts correctional officer accused of bringing drugs into facility for inmate – Fall River Reporter

MILFORD – The Massachusetts Department of Correction today announced the arrest of Correctional Officer Roxsandra Wright, who has been charged in connection with the introduction of synthetic cannabinoid-laced paper into MCI-Shirley. This arrest follows a thorough investigation conducted jointly by the DOC and the Massachusetts State Police.

On Saturday, State Police arrested Wright as part of an ongoing investigation by the DOC and MSP's Joint Narcotics Task Force into the smuggling of illegal narcotics into DOC facilities. Wright was taken into custody on a warrant issued by the Ayer District Court for delivering an article to a prisoner.

“The Massachusetts Department of Correction requires the highest standards of professionalism and integrity from all employees,” said DOC Interim Commissioner Shawn Jenkins. “Any behavior that threatens the security of our facilities or undermines public trust will not be tolerated. I would like to thank the Massachusetts State Police for their invaluable coordination and cooperation on this matter.”

The DOC remains committed to providing a safe, supportive environment for all who live and work in its facilities. Recognizing the risks that contraband poses to the safety and health of both staff and incarcerated individuals, DOC has implemented a comprehensive, multi-pronged approach to prevent the introduction of illicit substances. This approach includes the use of advanced screening technology, rigorous operational protocols, extensive staff training and education, and close collaboration with law enforcement partners to deter and intercept contraband.

By working closely with law enforcement, the DOC works to intercept contraband before it reaches facilities and file criminal charges against those involved. The DOC continually adapts its protocols to address new threats and ensure a safe and rehabilitative environment for all individuals in state correctional facilities.

Roxsandra Wright resigned from the ministry earlier this month, effective October 31. She is expected to be arraigned in Ayer District Court on Monday, November 4th.

The investigation into this matter is ongoing.
