JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A video circulating online shows three Jacksonville Sheriff's Office officers arguing with fans during Saturday's Georgia-Florida game.

In the video, viewers can see a fan on the ground as an officer punches her repeatedly and a witness shouts, “Why are you hitting him?”

The camera then turns to show another officer punching another fan.

From this angle, viewers can see the man grabbing the police officer by the waist as he is beaten.

Crime and security analyst Tom Hackney explained his opinion on the videos, saying he felt officers followed protocol.

“From what I saw here, the African-American officer [is] “Using some of those closed fists, that’s part of the training,” Hackney said.

Of the other officer in the video, Hackney said: “I can’t really say how much resistance there is. [but] The subject looks like he has his face covered…this officer needs to explain what these punches are.”

The crime and security analyst adds that to avoid incidents like this, people should avoid “active resistance”.

“[Active resistance is] You pull away from the officer, you pull him away, you hit his hands, something like that. And it just goes uphill from there,” he said.

In these cases, charges against the person resisting may result in a police officer being assaulted or violently resisting arrest.
