The Vikings used the strong second half to beat the Colts 21-13

The Vikings had a chance to go up by two points after Byron Murphy Jr. copied Josh Downs' route and undercut Flacco's throw, but Darnold gave the ball back into traffic on the next play with a throw to Jefferson, which was scored by Safety Nick was intercepted crossing. Although the Colts only gained two yards on their next three plays, they were able to get a 41-yard field goal from Matt Gay that made it 14-10.

Indianapolis drove to the Vikings' 40th line and had a chance to take the lead. But on third and fourth downs, Harrison Smith created two pass breakups by drilling Ashton Dulin to fend off the ball on what was supposed to be a fourth down that gave the Vikings the ball back. Darnold hit Addison for 21 yards, the Vikings ran Aaron Jones six times for 25 yards, and on a second-and-11 with 2:05 left, O'Connell called for Darnold to turn left on a flood concept . The quarterback hit Josh Oliver as the deepest option on the play for a 14-yard touchdown that put the game out of reach.

The Colts pulled within eight on a 54-yarder by Gay, but when they attempted an onside kick to get the ball back for a game-winning drive, the Vikings loaded their team with skilled position players and Jefferson caught the ball onside kick in front of Alec Pierce to seal it.

The Vikings are now 6-2 before traveling to Jacksonville next week to begin a three-game road trip.
