The vice president has outperformed Donald Trump in a new poll in Iowa, a state that Trump easily won in 2016 and 2020, according to the new poll.

Women and older voters are responsible for the remarkable turnaround in the Selzer poll, conducted for the Des Moines Register newspaper and published Saturday.

The Trump campaign criticized the results, pointing to another poll the same day that gave the Republican a 10-point lead in the same state.

According to the Selzer poll of 808 likely voters surveyed between Oct. 28 and Oct. 31, Harris leads Trump 47%-44% in a state that has leaned heavily Republican in recent years. It is within the margin of error of 3.4 percentage points, but marked a reversal from a September poll in Iowa that had Trump leading by 4 points, the newspaper reported.
