Quincy Jones, music titan who worked with Michael Jackson and Frank Sinatra, has died | Ents & Arts News

Quincy Jones, the music producer and composer, has died at the age of 91.

Jones worked with Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles and countless other artists.

One of his most famous gigs was as a producer on Jackson's historical Thriller album.

He supervised the all-star recording of the 1985 charity album We Are The World.

Jones also composed the soundtrack to the 1969 British hit film The Italian Job, starring Michael Caine.

His publicist Arnold Robinson confirmed that he died on Sunday at his home surrounded by his family.

In a statement, his family said: “Tonight it is with full but broken hearts that we share the news of the passing of our father and brother Quincy Jones.”

“And while this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life he led and know there will never be another like him,” they added.

In a career spanning more than 70 years, he won 28 Grammy awards with 80 nominations.

Time Magazine called him one of the most influential jazz musicians of the 20th century.

Lionel Richie, co-writer of We Are The World and one of the featured singers, called Jones “the master orchestrator.”
