The driver is seriously injured in an accident on Highway 136 in Schuyler County

On November 1, 2024, at approximately 9:35 a.m., a two-vehicle accident occurred on Highway 136, five miles west of Downing in Schuyler County, Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2024 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by a 66-year-old man from Morehaven, Florida, was traveling westbound when it slowed and turned left. A 2013 GMC Sierra truck driven by a 32-year-old man from Memphis, Missouri, also traveling westbound, collided with the Freightliner from behind.

The driver of the GMC Sierra suffered serious injuries and was transported by Air Evac to University Hospital in Columbia. The driver of the Freightliner was reportedly wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed by Lakeside Towing.

The Schuyler County Sheriff's Department, local emergency services and first responders provided assistance at the scene.
